Have just returned from Bath, where I enjoyed a wonderful music week, attending various recitals and speaker events in a range of venues including Bath Abbey, Wells Cathedral and Salisbury Cathedral. It was the annual congress of the UK Incorporated Association of Organists, of which my very musical husband is a member. Despite a full programme, there was some free time to follow in the steps of Jane Austen and I visited the costume exhibition in the Assembly Rooms. Incredible to view the still vibrant colours of the woven silks coming from France in the 1700s (left hand picture). The Association’s annual dinner was held in great splendour in the Pump Room (though I did not sample the water, remembering how it tasted from my last visit a few years back).
