From the same era I was also reading about parliament’s attempts to limit the age at which children could work in the cotton mills.
The resulting novel, “A Master of Industry”, set in 1816, has a governess confronting an aristocratic industrialist about a mill on his land. He offers to do something to improve matters but only if she will do something for him. So begins a raunchy tale as their tempestuous relationship develops.
Available on Kindle at special introductory price of 99p/99c for November only.
